Ayodele Drum and Dance West African Dance Class is an adult class designed to provide an energetic experience in a cultural context.

Feel the power of live drumming as you learn history as well as how to move your body. Are you ready to move? Then join us as we dance from the soul!

Presented as part of the Chicago Park District's Night Out in the Parks series, supported by Mayor Rahm Emanuel. Arts programming in neighborhoods across the city advances the goals of the Chicago Park District and the Chicago Cultural Plan. Now in it's fifth year, the Nights Out in the Park series will host over 1,000 cultural events and programs at more than 250 parks throughout the city, making community parks a safehaven and hubs of activity.

Projects will vary from traditional performances and concerts, to movies, peace rallies, community workshops, nature based programs, dance pieces, festivals, and more. The Chicago Park District has partnered with more than 100 arts and community organizations to expand and produce this successful initiative.

Chicago Dance Month Kick Off Celebration

Join the celebration at the kickoff of the Fifth Annual Chicago Dance Month on Navy Pier on Monday, April 3 featuring FREE performances from 6:00-7:15pm in the Aon Grand Ballroom. The program includes performances by Ayodele Drum and Dance, Giordano Dance II, Natya Dance Theater and Culture Shock Chicago.

The evening will also include a special conversation with Yossi Chaikin and Gabriella Sorrentino, two company members and dance captains currently performing in the musical HAMILTON The conversation will be moderated by HMS Media Executive Producer, Scott Silberstein.

A reception with the artists will immediately follow the performance

The performance is FREE but reservations are requested. The reception will offer guests the opportunity to meet the performers and enjoy tasty appetizers and beverages at Tiny Tavern, the newest gastro pub on Navy Pier. Tickets to the reception are $50 for non-Audience Architects members.
